Officer Resilience Scale: Resources, Measurement and Gender Differences among Israel Defense Force Cadets

The goal of this study was to develop a gender-sensitive resilience scale for screening combat-support officers. This achieved by investigating the factor structure in both male and female personnel. Participants were 1467 personnel who underwent psychological evaluation at Israel Defense Force (IDF) Officer Selection Center (OSC) attended Training School (OTS). Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) used analyze multiple scales. EFA bore two factors: Self-efficacy (SE) social support (SS). Construct validity SE SS demonstrated against IDF’s Personality Inventory (OPI) Big Five dimensions, Anticipated Military Stress Scale (AMS-S) Psychological Evaluation Scores (PES). gender differences indicated higher scores women than men while no found scores. Discussion these findings focuses on gender-related socialization. In men, PES more strongly associated with SE; women, SS. how psychologist evaluators may view needs differently vs. furthers understanding military setting. new enables inclusive selection.
